The style of sixties changed the whole meaning of chic and trend. From teenagers to adults; fashion became an essential part of life. It won’t be wrong to call the sixties the uprising period of fashion where people were mostly inspired by movies like Saturday night, Sunday morning and “kes”.

New hemlines were introduced, and the choice of bold colors was a fashion statement for the people of 60’s. Waist tight frocks with pleats, bright colors and polka dots, simple full shirts, go-go boots, zippers and tight wasted classy dresses were at the peak and most popular amongst the fashion maniacs. This was the epoch of fashion which epitomized the femininity in women. The dresses were totally proper and refined. The young floral colors were full of energy and youth. Jackie Kennedy style of full shirts with big diagonal buttons was a real attraction and it turned out to be a skimmer dress with collars.

On the other hand men’s fashion lines also went under a drastic change in sixties. Jackets with narrow collars, tight trousers and thin ties were said to be “in” fashion. Every teenager was seen in leather jackets and tight pants, giving dashing looks and trying his level best to look like a “rock star”. This was known as the “teddy fashion” which was all about wearing skin tight pants.

In late sixties, women started wearing tent suits with elegant, striking colors. These eccentric suits had curved neck line collars and were mostly of geometric shapes. Full sleeves shirts, short hemlines and shirts with waist dresses were the height of fashion in those days. In short, the sixties style was all about bright bold colors, pure feminine dresses, though formal, gave a sense of femininity and modish to women.
